WUSD COVID-19 Update

8/25/2021

Across Tulare County schools and the nation, there have been many discussions about the current increase in COVID-19 (delta variant) case rates. I understand that it is not the ideal situation for the learning environment, however, I assure you that school is one of the best and safest places for students.  We have definitely learned in 2020-2021 that having students return to school contributes toward society functioning predictably and “normally.” Student achievement data indicates severe learning loss for the past 18 months and a decline in social and emotional health amongst children staying at home.
Woodville staff and students are mandated to wear mask indoors at all times, plexiglasses are stationed in learning spaces, and the district installed Needle Point Bi-polar Ionization air filtration units in every classroom. This product helps improve the air quality by reducing airborne particles including bacteria and viruses (COVID-19).
The district will be providing ongoing transparency and clarity to stakeholders with current COVID-19 updates and data to staff and Woodville USD parents and guardians.
I want Woodville families to have the current district data so that they can make the best decisions for their children.
Current to date: The district has confirmed a total of four (4) student positive cases of COVID-19 and no (0) staff members.
Woodville Elementary School will remain open every day for in-person learning. For students that have tested positive or have been placed on quarantine, we have a short-term independent study learning option.
During this time, I would like to express my sincere appreciation to all of our employees and parents who have helped the district in moving forward during our first two weeks back to school for in-person learning. The district will continue to do its best to navigate our way forward as situations change.

FOR FUTURE REFERENCE:
There is no need to speculate. As positive cases are reported to Woodville Union School District, parents will receive one of two notices:

1. Notification that your child is considered a  close contact[1]  to the positive report
or
2. General notification that an individual at Woodville Elementary School has reported positive

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
[1] The CDC considers a close contact as someone who was within 6 feet for a total of 15 minutes or more regardless if a mask was worn.

 ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

New TCHHSA COVID-19 Guidance

8/19/2021

Dear Parents and Guardians,
The district received new quarantine guidance for students exposed to COVID-19 from Tulare County Health and Human Services Agency (TCHHSA). Please read this new guidance carefully and monitor your child(ren) for COVID-19 symptoms. If your child experiences any of the COVID-19 symptoms, please keep them at home.

Estimados Padres y Guardianes,
